I have not have any luck in landing and interview or pass the algorithm when submitting my application. Is there a #GomdmanSachs #JPMORGAN #BofA MD/VP hiring recruiter that can help me get an interview?? Please, I beg? I am ready to work… I just don’t know how else to make myself noticeable 😔
Actually, if you’re white/Asian from a nontarget is not difficult to break in. Nope, I am a white/Hispanic male from a non Ivy League. Graduated cum lauded in 2020 from Florida international university.
Why would you think it’s easier for Asians to break into banking? If anything, it’s definitely more difficult for an Asian male than a white/ Hispanic male to try to get into those top banks. But honestly with your school background and as a recent graduate, the races and genders don’t even matter - nobody can break in with that background. 🤷🏻♂️
Hey Facebook. He got a job from Tesla tho...I think that’s even cooler?
what is your previous experience? In the interview process, keep your energy the same level as theirs. Have you completed certificates? Have you tried to work for a fintech start up as your first deal? you cant just go for big names, they want to see experience and you can get that at a start up first.
Experience have been in sales. Worked for Wells Fargo in their wealth management and Tesla sales. He adjusted from FIU with undergraduate in Finance. I tried getting an internship but I was not getting any traction.
There’s a specific process you go through to become an analyst. You have to intern as an undergrad and most people just go back to their intern bank. You can’t just apply after you’ve already graduated. Best bet would be to get an MBA and go for an associate role at a bulge bracket, but you need to plan for that
Well, I am going a Masters of science in Finance from FIU to see if it will increase my chances. I am 33 years old trying to break in IBD and did not wanted to spend 4 years doing an MBA. Plus I don’t really think MBA’s are that great in comparison.
Just saw this message. In all honesty, you should not even bother going for investment banking. It’s clear you haven’t really done any research on the rigorous process to get in. MBAs are two year degrees not four. A degree from FIU is not going to help and most banks are not even going to consider a 33 year old for an analyst position and you’re uncompetitive for the associate role. I am not trying to drag you down, just telling you how the industry is. Your energy is better spent elsewhere IMO. Good luck
From an FIU background good luck !! I am from Florida and most people in Investment Banking at Goldman hold BS or MS from Ivy Leagues or NYU Stern Business School etc … They don’t care your skin color or background I can guarantee but they do look at prior experience and school. Most have prior experience in Private Equity/ Hedge Funds / other bank internships Go get experience then come over
I have tried, tried so hard to get some experience but I continue to fail. I can’t even get the lower entry levels outside of IBD. It’s hard to know I probably won’t get in.
You mean most PE / HFs or Internships that also prefer IB Analyst experience? It’s a revolving door from the Ivys
Why do you want to do investment banking?
Yes I'm a recruiter from Gomdman Sachs, how can I be of service?
Would you mind if you can review my resume. I am willing to work for free if necessary to gain the experience?
Same, looking for a summer 2022 internship!
Stay away from banking. Leetcode + FAANG is all you need. Thank me later. -Someone at GS who was naive as you at one point
Yes very true
Would agree but both of those are just as difficult in terms of recruiting, if not worse. Grass is greener on the other side, the fence is just too high.
As a fellow FIU alumni, it seems you’re drinking the kool aid as every undergrad finance major at FIU. If you were so deeply interested in IB, you’d be reaching to all FIU alumni currently working in IB positions. Truth of the matter is that you will most likely have to go back to school or apply to Goldman Sachs IB positions in Salt Lake City. Lastly, you may want to target boutiques instead of Bulge Bracket banks to get more reasonable success.
I do not disagree with you. I tried reaching out to my fellow FIU but I saw that they were giving me the cold shoulder and I was not successful. I have been instead of doing outreach to other alumni because they were more willing to hoop on a call. The last time I asked for advice and a call from an FIU alum, I was told to read a book. This person was from the same investment PIF club I was a member of. Believe me, I have tried. I am even willing to go outside of NYC
