I'm currently interviewing with an NYC startup, and it seems that they're willing to offer $90k/yr to a potential candidate. I have $45,000 student loan debts and the interest will be compounded every month starting May 2020. The location of the startup is close to Upper West Side. What do you guys think?
You'd be netting ~5k/month (I made 90k living in NY). Consider the outer boroughs and your rent should be < 1500. If these numbers sound good to you, go for it.
What are you paying monthly for student loans? Yes, it's enough to get a small place by yourself.
I'm planning $1.5k-2k per month
It's enough in that you won't starve and will be able to afford to have something of a social life. You won't be able to save that much, most likely.
No
Bullshit
Like OCI? Agreed.
If you can live with a couple of roommates you can live comfortably in NYC in 90k. I used to make 90k back in 2012, 1500 in rent for 1/3 of a 3br in a great Brooklyn neighborhood. No debt so still saved a good amount.
Many people do just fine on less with more debt.
ITT: People forget waitresses get by in NYC with 1 roommate.
If you need a room mate to keep ur living expenses manageable, that's not adequate salary.

The end of Backdoor Roth?!
if you are fresh grad. you can get around 80-120K min/max depending on the company you are joining. but you have to start somewhere (also to pay off your loan) so if you don't have any other offers go for it
