I've been applying to all kind of companies in EU/UK, but unable to get any interviews except Booking.com and Google. Currently, unhappy at Amazon, but couldn't find a way out. Is it because of my tenure at Amazon? Would staying at Amazon for a year decrease or increase my chances? YoE: 2.5 (5 months at Amazon) TC: 100k Dublin #tech #amazon

Yes, everyone knows Amazon on resume= PIP
Would someone explain how it would be a red flag? My thoughts were that Amazon has terrible WLB, but the employees that survive there for a while are considered working machines
I thought it would look better than my previous startup, but I've seen so many new hires that even my previous startup company wouldn't have hired.
Yeah, but OP has been there 5 months...
just chill and collect the severance. will buy you some time to reach 12 months. don't need to care what they think. remember, Amazon is a toxic place.
Amazon is FAANG and is not a redflag on your resume. Everyone else is trolling.
Ok Stryker. Come join us
I'm joining. And I don't care if anyone thinks it's a red flag, it's a nice stepping stone for me. It's up to people to leverage what they have. I have seen people move to all.kind of places from Amazon
I can’t provide insight from a recruiter perspective. But as an engineer I am very cautious about working with Amazon people. I have a bias that they are cutthroat from the social Darwinism at Amazon. I would imagine the concern being bringing that culture to a new organization. This is obviously a generalization. My advice would be to prove people wrong - show them that you are great to work with
true. as an Amazonian, I will be extra careful when I work with Amazon people
Another thought might be compensation. If you are too expensive for smaller orgs they might not consider you because of budget constraints
You’ve only been there 5 months? That’s a red flag
Eh. I don’t think so. Amazon just sucks ass
Dark red flag
A few other possibilities: 1. It’s unrelated to Amazon, and there is something else about your CV raising flags 2. For normal non-tech companies, they may think FAANG = someone overqualified, with salary expectations we will not able to match 3. <= 1 yr tenure anywhere is a red flag, particularly for non-tech companies where hopping like this is a PITA they want to avoid

Your resume is a red flag. Lol
I disagree. Everyone knows Amazon sucks and they hire to fire. I wouldn’t think twice about interviewing them and just ask candid questions about their experience I think it’s more of a red flag when people STAY at Amazon for years, despite the unhinged ruthless culture. If you could leverage that experience to work anywhere else why on earth would you stay?
You’re wrong. Dole Costa Rica office seek Amazon employees for their banana-tasting expertise.
