Is the technology (big tech, Nasdaq 100, etc.) industry now like IT. We are seeing layoffs in tech like we’ve never seen before. Has tech become just like IT in terms of job security, lower pay, etc.? SDEs vs Backend IT folks, etc. What say you? #tech #amazon #microsoft #google #deloitte
Dumb post
“Never seen before”
No one tell him what the T in IT stands for
I know that. But “big tech” is not the same as IT in terms of TC, etc.
Software developers vs. rack servers, network admins, etc.
Some of y’all really need to understand that the world has existed longer than the 4-5 years you’ve been working.
We do. I’ve been in the game for over a decade.
Dot com bubble, 2008, initial Covid layoffs…did you just forget about all this when making this stupid post?
No. I’m asking Blinders what they think.
This is a dumb post and you should feel bad
😂. IT folks will understand. SDEs—not so much.
Deloitte.. Hey I remember that shithole from my previous employment.. and no, there is way more to “big tech” than just high salary. Its not the same, and nature of the work makes sure it never will be. “IT” has more job security than big tech. Easy to coast. Coming from someone who transitioned from “IT” to SDE.
AI can code. We shall see—we shall see.
Its like saying scripts can do IT job. There is more than coding in “big tech”, for instance types(and dare i say quality) of peers you get to interact with.

IT is LITERALLY tech btw
No. I’m talking the SDEs/TPMs, PgMs, etc. vs. Data center folks, network engineers, rack/server folks, PC support, etc. information tech vs. big tech, etc.
