So I had my final round at amazon last week, on Monday I got an email saying I received “very positive” feedback and that they’d like to proceed to the next step after I filled out an online form asking for a few things, one of which being my graduation date. If they had read my resume, application, or LinkedIn profile, it says nowhere that I have a degree or am in school. So, I put N/A in the graduation field, after she emailed me about this I explained that I’m self taught and don’t have a degree. After this email she stopped responding, I followed up once so far asking if this is the case but still no response. Does amazon require degrees for SDE roles? This is an SDE I role. Amazon has no such requirement. But if the hiring manager when they created the job posting, if they have written anything about a degree (e.g. "Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent degree" etc) as the "minimum requirement" then for legal reasons they cannot hire someone without that degree on that precise job posting. That said I have several people in my extended team who do not have a comp sci degree or anything equivalent. (Meaning inside Amazon -working on the programming side , AWS to be precise)
Hmmm maybe thats it? I just reached back out to them one more time, we’ll see what happened
There was an online form? I don’t remember being an online form filled out, recently got an offer and starting in a couple of days . Dm if any questions
I think its only for SDE 1 which is typically new grad
I applied sde1 . Do you mean the application/ form in the portal when you apply?

The job roles usually say that Bachelors degree or equivalent experience. How many years of experience do you have?
I’m 21, I’ve been programming since I was a kid and I’ve been working in IT since I was 16, actual developer role for almost 2 years now.
Ah ok. The actual developer experience should be considered as relevant work experience in lieu of a Bachelors degree. You can search for open positions of Amazon that accept 2 years of experience without a degree and apply to those. That should let your profile reach new recruiter. Let them know that you have already passed the assessments and interviews.
