I’m prepping for interviews again and a lot of the questions in the book are either too easy or niche. Most companies don’t ask linked list or DP questions except for a select few and the hiring bar has gone up. Even companies offering mediocre salaries and benefits are throwing LC mediums and hards at applicants. Seems like Gayle wrote the book for a quick buck and as a result helped make interviewing worse for everyone…
Not useless but not as useful as when it was first released. This was inevitable.
The first edition of the book is over a decade old. It was LeetCode before LeetCode so in a way its day has passed. However it arguably also created the conditions for LC style interviews and the prep industry around it. Your opinion on whether this was a good or bad thing may vary.
fuk gayle
Dp is commonly asked, and will likely be asked more as the market gets more competitive. I’ve seen dp on multiple oa’s and interviews. When a large majority can solve most mediums, this is what companies resort to in order to further increase the bar And Elements of programming interviews is better imo
leetcode is way better. use ctci as a starting point only
"Cracking the Coding Interview" and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.
