I’m getting reached out for several Chief of Staff roles. Previously I thought it was a cool role but nowadays nowadays it seems like an EA role branded as CoS. And most CoS searches from LinkedIn are females (like very stereotypical) without business strategy backgrounds, but with more experiences heavier on administrative roles. For example I saw 3-4 people who only had EA roles or Administrative Assistants now with the title “Chief of Staff” at startups. TC 500
Depends It can vary from EA to the right hand
That’s how it appears to me.
too many chiefs these days. everyone wants a chief title. chief talent officer, chief people officer, chief crypto officer, chief investment officer, chief of staff...might even see chief janitorial officer at this rate
glorified admin role
Not true and explicitly different than EA
Don’t just say it’s not true, explain how.
agree…. depends on specific role and company. but another way to think about it…. at your TC, i doubt glorified admin…..
You have to do a lot of dirty work when high profile projects are slipping.
i guess it’s better than principal EA
