Is Cisco a good career move now? Given current tech downturn?

Any news of layoffs, hiring freeze or anything negative from #cisco? Is #cisco really as good as it is portrayed (number 1 on Fortune best companies to work for list)? Folks who are currently working in Cisco can you please opine? #tech #cloud #Cisco #bestcompaniestoworkfor @cisco

Cisco pays for that spot, it means nothing. They also frequently do layoffs. They pretend to care about you, but they’ll cut you loose the moment it suits them and won’t think twice

Love Cisco. Generally very smart colleagues and collaborative culture. Pay is below FAANG, but better work life. We get a bunch of free PTOs (day for me). And 95% staff work remote.

Cisco was a good career move in 1999

Cisco currently has a limited freeze where their first preference is for internal applicants. Cisco’s attrition rate was so high at the time of Great resignation last year they have not done much layoffs since last 1 year but I disagree with Apple on one point Cisco at least pretends to care some employers dont even do that so it isnt that bad and mostly layoffs is very BU based .

One of my last All Hands (I forgot the actual name of the meeting) was where Chuck and Fran were discussing workforce reduction going into the start of Covid. They were joking around and smiling while delivering this news, as if it’s just another Tuesday for them. Pisses me off

Thats not a good look . But generally they show more concern compared to other employers, i joined here from Intel and i feel its a bit better.
