Are tech workers as rich as they think we are?
Wondering how safe from layoffs working in DEI is? It seems like it would be any company that goes after DEI puts a target on their back for being called racist. #dei #diversity #layoffs
No they were cut too
Nope
It better not be. Just because someone looks a specific way or think a specific way should not make them immune to layoffs
No. They're often some of the first to get cut. Companies like the pretend they care until they actually have to care and yes I am salty lol
DEI is a cost center entirely devoted to virtue signaling
So layoffs haven’t been surgical in terms of removing fat. Given the time they had, plus the lawsuit concern is if you do remove someone specifically for bad performance, there needs to be record. Instead it seems safe to remove just parts of companies broadly which aren’t contributing to bottom line Dei isn’t a legal requirement. As long as you satisfy Eeoc requirements, you are in the clear. Having a dei, may potentially help in justice dept ignore you but it was always a lip service. And I think Twitter still had a huge team more than 10 and only 2 remain. Even if a company is genuinely serious about dei, it still makes sense to scale them accordingly.
DEI hiring is a luxury service, it goes down with the ship
There's a difference in virtue signaling and addressing real historical issues
I've seen tons of DEI people laid off on LinkedIn. I really don't think these companies care.
Are the laid off DEI folks accusing the company of being racist/sexist/etc?
Yes, I have seen plenty of people posting about the company not being actually supportive of DEI, that they were just temporarily virtue signaling, so on.
