Does everyone else agree that this is very wrong to say or is it just me? I am talking about bullet #2
Well we need context. I notice that they are a recruiting agency that specializes in people who speak multiple languages so I guess they actually are looking for Chinese speakers and not biased, but know that others are.
Could just be a note based off personal experience or stories he heard from peers.
I just feel there is something very wrong about that bullet and essentially telling someone to leave off his last name..
I’d rather have someone say it, than silently do it. If anything someone took a risk to be honest enough to say this in writing. 👏👏 To be honest, it’s not hard to look at a resume And make a reasonably accurate guess whether or not someone needs a visa sponsorship. But any company that worries so much about a visa sponsorship is probably junk tier and not worth working for in the first place.
So you’re Ian who studies /just graduated from UCB?
Lol burn
Now you know his 3.4 gpa too
We folks in tech are in Utopia. But in other fields people do get rejected for silliest reasons. Sometimes my friends from other fields apply at Amazon. They always make sure to mention at the very top that they don’t require sponsorship so that their resumes aren’t thrown away. On the other hand SWE folks don’t even have to apply.
Agree but at same time its still bad to publicly say that and admit to discrimination when you are a leader of a company..
From the screenshot it looks like they’re offering resume advice/service. It’s like a lawyer is advising his client to behave in certain way in front of the judge (like dress formally) so that he client doesn’t attract the judge’s unfavorable bias.
The assumption he is making though shows the point he is going off though. It sounds like much more then resume advice
Did you look up the company? FlyHigh a recruiting agency that specializes in bilingual people.
How dare he give free advice based on his personal and professional experiences
This is wrong but it’s more common than people want to admit. I’ve shortened my last name so it appears as less “ethnic”. It’s a hyphenated birth name so it’s not lying. Just bending.
