Recently after applying for a Software Engineer role a Google recruiter reached out to me. But right before setting the phone screen call I got the following email: Unfortunately, Google would be unable to secure a work visa for you, so we will not be able to continue with your application for US based roles. Is Google not sponsoring new visas? #google #workvisa #h1b TC 🥜
are you outside of US?
Interesting. My friend recently got the same email.
Are you in US, what visa / status do you hold? Does you current status provide you work authorization? Regardless of where you live and work, whether in US or in Europe, Google follows local government guidelines regarding immigration. It won't cost anything to sponsor employees for Visa.
I am in Sweden right now. I don't have work authorization in the USA
I see. Did not you ask the recruiter for the reason. They are usually open to answering your questions honestly. By the way, with what visa or work authorization are yoh working for Spotify? Is not Spotify a better company to work? I was just considering their New York office for role switch.
H1B season is over. Have to try again in December-February.
They will sponsor only if you are already in US. Same with almost all companies.
You are from Sweden. Just get a GC directly. You are going to get a red carpet welcome in US.
I would say that until his PERM gets approved from the government, his nationality will not make a difference.
I am not Swedish. I am here on work visa.
It happened to me as well around July. I am in New York and I already have an H1B. It was the wierdest thing
Heard the same response from a recruiter while setting up the phone interview
I am guessing this is not a tech role?
Tech role. Senior Software Engineer. I will update the post
