Does Apple hire Software Engineers with no prior experience in Java? If yes, which teams in India do? Also, Is Java expertise mandatory in interviews? Exp: ~5 TC: ~31 LPA #apple #software #swe #engineering
I guess in the context of India, Java is mandatory. Most of the interviews are going to cover core concepts of Java.
And does that apply even if the candidate has never used Java?
I think they ignore them in resume filtering. They are focused so much on Java. From all the rounds of interview almost all round I had Java vote related questions. Multithreading, internal working of all. Not at JVM level though
Even here in the US, I was asked to interview in Java. This was the iCloud team. The interview even had some deep JVM related questions. Apple seems to be a Java shop. Same with Netflix.
Ohk, that's unfortunate then, atleast in my case. Thanks for the info.

What do you think is wrong with a kid who got rejected by 9 colleges?
Are you looking specifically at IS&T org? Apple has very few java positions in non-IS&T org, so I don't think Java expertise is required
Nothing specific. In general, I was looking for openings in Apple. Every opening I came across on LinkedIn had "Java expertise" under "Basic requirements".
Can you name a few orgs where Java expertise isn't mandatory, atleast in the interviews?
