Meta is a data harvesting company that owns three highly used social media apps as well as insane reserves of cash, they are more than capable of engineering algorithms that are more accurate to compensate for lower data as time goes on as well as purchasing companies that serve as good end points for data harvesting The meta verse is a pet project like google glasses or google self driving cars, it’s not the bread and butter of the company. BlackBerrys entire shtick was making cool phones it’s a very different scenario

VR is going work, but not sure if it will be meta that is the winner if that makes sense. There may not be a clear winner for a long time.

For all the juveniles here, Google is in a much better position than Meta - It still controls Search entry point - It has Android - YouTube is still strong - They should have enough talent to get GCP into a stronger position Meta will probably worth half if it doesn't have Instagram... And privacy changes at iOS and Android are harming significantly given 98% revenue is Ads.

Blackberry was controversial? VR is fun but if Beat Saber didn't bring it mainsteam, how many people are going to invest $300 (Oculus Quest) to $1,000 (Valve Index) so they can use Facebook in VR? Facebook was such a success because mobile made it so easy to use casually while you are doing something else – eating cereal in the morning, sitting at a red light, sitting in a meeting, sitting on the toilet, watching TV after work, in bed before you go to sleep. VR is the opposite end of the active-passive use spectrum.
