Context: I'm 2 yoe total in backend/distributed systems within Azure, joined as a new grad. I've noticed that recruiters are constantly messaging my friends at Google and Meta, while my LinkedIn inbox is empty for most part. I'm pretty surprised, as I figured that all FAANG+ big tech companies gave similar signals. Is it really the case that Microsoft has a significantly weaker brand to tech recruiters? Any similar experiences with ex/current Microsoft folks?
It’s honestly stupid on the recruiters part, people and G and M are less likely to switch and it’s a waste of time trying to recruit.
I bet receuiters just look at their spreadsheet and see what companies' employees pass interview more and pick them.
Not really. Never had any issues from Microsoft. Is you resume only Microsoft tech. Add aws, k8s, Java etc skills
I feel like recruiter reachouts are kind of random. Before layoffs, I was at MS non-Azure org and had G and Meta recruiters reach out, after getting laid off had 0 recruiters. Cold applied for current role. Def think Azure has better appeal than non-Azure though. For context, my LinkedIn is bare bones
Believe me: Microsoft is a strong enough brand. You are fine. Just enjoy. I feel like nowadays we're just too focused on "branding", "prestige" (not necessarily you but from what I see on Blind) instead of enjoying one of the most exciting and impactful jobs in the story of humanity. You'll have a 20+,30-year career. Plenty of times to move around. Enjoy your first years at one the biggest
