Does Netflix have a bright future or it's going to be crushed by the competition? Hulu, YouTube, Amazon, HBO Max, Disney+, Roku, etc. are all in the same market unless I am misunderstanding the business model of Netflix. TC: 300k Edit: Thanks everyone for responding! My confidence in Netflix has strengthened. Their net income in 2020 was $3B (thanks to ๐๏ธ ๐ ๐๏ธ for finding the earnings spreadsheet). Additionally this article does a good job at summarizing the financial situation at Netflix - https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/19/business/netflix-earnings-debt.html
ROKU, FUBO, and VIAC are coming for it!
It is profitable. It has a lot of debt due to content generation though, but those are one time costs I assume.
It's perpetual, reoccurring, and indefinite. They need to innovate their content model and modalities
We donโt hire toxic Twitter snowflakes, why do you care, stay at your 200k Tc and manage woke tweets
It's actually 300k, but still not as high as a Netflix TC.
All these other services have customers too and to me it seems like they are in the same market as Netflix. Am I wrong? Netflix isn't a monopoly of movie streaming like Google is of search engines. Sorry if I'm asking a stupid question but I honestly am curious and want to understand how Netflix is positioned for success.
I think they still have a huge technological advantage, which is going to take others years to catch up. If Netflix develops content wisely, it will still be a leader. The streaming was there when Netflix was shipping discs, and now they define the industry.
You know their financials are public right?
Right https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/NFLX/financials/?guccounter=1 Thanks for pointing this out!
Almost 10M profit for 2020 if I am reading this correctly.
Disney+ is the only competition to Netflix, not a threat. Almost everyone with kids have Disney +. Almost everyone has Netflix. HBO max ,amazon YouTube , etc are just sides which folks get after ordering Netflix and/or Disney+.
i mean i ain't leaving netflix for any of that other crap ๐
Netflix is b2c with crazy high NPS. I havenโt been paying attention to financials, but that seems like a good sign to me.
Netflix has very stable income, very low debt compared to market cap. Competition is a nonissue when the tide of cord cutting is lifting all boats.

Yeah, please educate me :)
It hasn't been profitable lately. Is this correct? Netflix might be cool, but if it isn't money positive, then it won't survive for long.
