I haven’t lost my job (yet) but with all this layoff stuff going on I feel like it’s not a good idea to work for a FAANG rn. Instead I’m considering options like Palantir. From a broad perspective: - How interesting are their projects? - How is work life balance? (for FDSE or SWE roles) - How much is normal TC? - Is it really better to move from FAANG to Palantir? #palantir #layoffs
I'll see you at Palantir 💯
Getting the offer first, that should answer half of ur questions as least
Pltr lives on government contracts and those are declining. Its an unprofitable company.
Hello! Could I also DM?
Projects range from boring accounting stuff to fun “company x wants to know how data and ML can change their entire industry”. WLB really depends. Some of the more stable enterprise teams will have work-streams that average 20-40 hour-weeks but will also have work-streams that do 60 hour weeks. If you’re on a pilot, you’ll learn way faster but may have to put in many late nights to succeed. Most of the time, the more secure a client, the less work. The riskier a contract, the more work. TC is 180-220ish for people with 0-3 YOE. I was bored at FAANG. Haven’t been bored at Palantir. Granted, I had much more free time at FAANG.
Does it go above that TC for senior folks?
It does but I think that’s because people who have been around longer received more stock refreshers and raises before the ipo. Not too sure about now
Even without lay-offs happening I'd recommend it. Btw, we have great kool-aid in the canteen.
Yes if you are keen to kill little kids in middle east
I am curious which part of Palantir’s work excites people, especially people still <30yo
Perspective: FAANG is laying off a fairly tiny portion of it's workforce.
