While everyone loves Twitter the stock has been horrible since IPO. No path to monetization. Is Parag simply a fall guy before company gets sold for parts? TC: 400
Crazy they hired the CTO. No good experienced CEOs out there? Also, why did it happen so sudden? The transition already happened. Sounds like Jack got fired and the board rushed to appoint someone before news are leaked out.
Nah I don't think so. I was reading on HN that the main parent/investor company for Twitter wanted Jack gone since beginning of 2020. I think this has definitely been in discussion for a bit, though I do agree the timing of the announcement is weird
Yes, Eillot mangament. I wouldn't trust these guys.
The new guy seems smart. Give him a chance.
Looks like a great hand! Get ceo experience with only 10 years or so of experience. Be ceo of a company with a long track record of underperformance. Have the opportunity to drive a tech focused turnaround. Worst case outcome: make many tens of millions of dollars for a few years before getting fired. Sounds pretty good to me.
What did he do to become DE directly out of school (PhD)? Must be incredibly smart to bridge the gap without industry experience
Exactly I am surprised.
Now it’s wait and see game.
He started as swe2 and got promoted to distinguished later

Any Indians Think Kashmir Should be Independent?
Or… Parag maybe to Twitter what Satya was to Microsoft. Dorsey was the Ballmer for Twitter. Time will tell.
I'm rooting for him for sure! But can't help but think he has been dealt a shitty hand
I don’t know. Maybe having a CEO with an engineering background (not that Dorsey didn’t have that, but he seems to be falling off the deep end with his crypto and woke babble) with the sole focus on one company might not be as shitty a hand. Talking in Blackjack terms: Parag got a 13 The shittiest hands of all time was probably Steve Jobs in 1996 and then Dr. Lisa Su in 2014. Both were dealt a 16. They both reached 21 with the dealer going bust with remarkable turnarounds for their companies.
