I got an MSc in Statistics in 2018 I've been working as a Data Analyst since then. I'm considering going back to school for a PhD in Data Science and work part-time alongside. Is this a good move?
No
You will stress and be poor for a long time until you get a PhD
Maybe it's because this is a new "field" but I don't think I have ever seen someone with a "Data Science" degree with a job...I think people would be highly skeptical if they saw PhD Data Science. What part of "data science" is not covered by computer science and statistics? PhD in math? Great. Physics? Great. Stats? Not bad (:P) Data science... wut?
+1 I read Data Science PhD and thought wtf does that even entail or mean. Waste of time imo
https://cds.nyu.edu/academics/phd/ NYU data science PhD has some top faculty and is very competitive.
Don't know anything about part time PhD programs, much less data science ones, but the reliable benefits of PhD programs are in the journey, not the destination. Everything else is gambling.
Lmao. U just go selftaught python sql. Save u 5 years
How on earth do you expect anyone to reasonably answer this without explaining your reasoning behind wanting to get the degree and career goals
