Is it worth joining Reddit now (@10B valuation)? Do you think it will have a good IPO? Planning to apply for an EM role. Obligatory Tax: 370k / 10+ yoe. #reddit
💯
You won’t get much of a pay bump for EM. They have static comp for the most part.
Even if the pay remains same, if the stock does good, there is an upside. I am not sure how well it will do though. Reddit seems to be riding on hype of WSB. Twitter which is similar but more popular, is not doing good (their stock hasn't seen much upside). Not sure what market looks for though.
I don’t see much upside on the stock tbh. Couple of years ago they were valued at 2 B now they are at 10B or something. Twitter with 100x more users and more robust ad platform Is valued at 50B and struggling to keep it that way. IT’s anybodys guess where Reddit will end up, but I dont think there is much upside left.
Do you really think Reddit is the next big thing ? If you were to just invest in their stocks ( if they were public) would you ? When you join a company you are investing your time in hopes that their stock will grow so you get more pay. Chose wisely.
I may not, but I could be wrong. I see value in the product, but am not sure if it is worth 10B or 100B. So, asking those who may understand this better.
While buying stocks, you can choose to invest in the company that you believe is the best - choosing jobs is different as you can only pick from the companies you got through.
I was thinking same an applied for Senior SWE. Recruiter never called, later found out they were let go and nobody ever followed up with me. By the time I got a contact, they already made an offer to someone else. Even if it’s a good pre-IPO option, they seem very disorganized
