What happens when most of your team is Indian?
What is the culture, WLB, pay and tech stack like? Do they support perm WFH?
Return to office is June 15th, some teams are five days a week required in the office and other teams are two days a week. Directive from CEO is no permanent WFH. So it’s Zoom calls from your desk in the office. 🙄 Marketing asked us to post on social media about TripActions return-to-office. Done. Ridiculously high turnover rate for a start-up darling. Tech stack is messed up b/c tons of engineering is outsourced without much QA or code reviews, thus, low quality/difficult to maintain code. It would not be a surprise to see the US engineering team moved to Israel. The biggest problem is the culture. It’s toxic, starts at the top, and has infected entire company. It’s been rough to see awesome co-workers leave one after the other. We can recruit them by dangling the promise of an IPO sometime in the future but can’t keep them. You didn’t ask about the product. It’s good and been well-received by users though unclear how it will hold up after travel fully resumes. 🍿
What would be the range of rsu grant for staff engineer for Amsterdam location
Ask your recruiter. Always negotiate any job offer.
DO NOT WORK HERE. It’s horrible.
It’s an awesome company IMO. Pace is really really fast and no doubt the culture took a big hit during covid with laying people off. Feels like that is behind us now and we’re rehiring and bringing in lots of smart folks. Do we work hard.? Yes. Are we fairly compensated? Yes. Are a lot of people joining because we’re pre IPO and there’s a lot of money to be made. Yes
Cut the nonsense. There is no money to be made. Company is valued at 300 times revenue. 300!!! Completely unsustainable. Founders have cashed out a good percentage and gave up a huge equity stake in last rounds. No major upside getting now. Early employees are the only one that made something.
Not sure on the 300 but employees joining now are not going to get much upside in the stock options given current valuations and outstanding shares. Gotta compare us to market cap of Exp or Amex to get a realistic picture. I’d be curious to know what the recruiters are promising candidates. Do they talk IPO and promise buckets of money and unicorns?
Don’t join. Carlos will keep clearing his throat until you get so annoyed that you will leave
No. Run. Fast.
