Oracle would ensure US user data remained in the States. TikTok US user data is currently stored in Singapore, so whether or not they were using GCP is irrelevant. It's all about soveriegnty of data in the absence of GDPR-like regulation in the States. With Oracle and Walmart having skin the game they can make sure that data stays out of CCP's hands. Otherwise CCP can force ByteDance to give up US user data and nothing would stop them from doing so. CCP can derive incredible insights by gaining access to US user data.
