Iโm engineering grad wanting to do an ms in HCI. Have done some frontend work(html css js) and would call myself an average programmer(leetcode easy). I wanted to move to UX primarily because I have a good creative side and was also afraid that I am not that good in coding. Currently I am stuck in TCS India doing support work and learning nothing from there. People say that UX is very much saturated and I must go for fullstack development as it is in demand and high paying. Iโm confused and not able to take a decision on whether I should start working on Ui/UX projects and learning tools and methodologies required or should I invest more time in coding and improving my front end skills.
Try full stack instead of just UX. Programming.
As a UX designer, I can say that it is highly saturated. It is getting harder to find decent paying jobs in UX. Easy masters program, combined with many new universities offering the course has made it extremely popular for students considering non coding careers. Don't go for it, it's going to get worse.
Exactly my fears ! Leaving my country n having education loans for a career which has low ROI would be a foolish thing to do. Thank you for your inputs .
Problem with UX is while it is very important component it is somewhat saturated in US since there are lot of bootcamp graduates(they are very good) so full stack is better option for US. Lot more job opportunities for full stack.
Consider being a UX engineer or creative technologist
The job opportunity for Ux eng is scarce comepared to ux or swe
Everyone who can draw boxes in figma considers themselves as designers now. If you are confident that you would be good at design then it is not saturated.
Ehm, UX is not just design
