MS adds almost no value to your career. PhD might have good ROI on the long run though.
If you can BS your way.. Then no
I ask this question to a lot of people at work. Generally in my experience, people who have a MS recommend one while people without one don't. I am none the wiser.
If you can get a decent job with a BS, then the total cost including opportunity cost is like 300k+
I only have a BS from a small University. Most my team have MS. While they were off paying for a MS at a name brand school I was at work making money and gaining experience worth the same $ in the end. We now have the same job and make the same pay. Except I paid less for it.
For CS? Yeah, do 1 year M.S. if you can stay in your undergrad school and it is t15. Otherwise, just get out and start making money asap. For EE, I would say def worth it.
If you're on a visa for sure it helpz
It’s about where you have the learning process. You could prob explore breadth in academia with MS, industry trains ppl on specific skills.
I have a MS degree in computer science from a top 10 university and I would say it adds no value.
