Does capital one really respect technology better than other Banks? Is it always technology first there? They are selling their "we are on aws" label big time to attract developers. Is it really that techy?
I do believe we are more tech forward than other banks. We definitely have a more techy culture (we may be try hards in this aspect) compared to other banks.
Not sure what bubble you live in. We “pretend” to be tech and do use cloud tech but that’s far from being a tech company. Our tech leaders and product owners screw up everything as usual. But a tech company we are not.
We are not a tech company, however we do have much more of a tech culture vs banks. If you cant agree to that then idk
I think it is, idk what Credit Karma boi above me is basing his statement off of but their tech office culture actually aligns more on the tech side of the spectrum unlike other banks with tech teams. There are free snacks, lots of color in regards to the interior design, games, and other things you'd associate with tech companies. I can't speak on the actual software quality since I didn't accept an offer but for what it's worth the engineers are chill and seem to enjoy working there.
It was all a show for you since you don’t work here. Don’t bother.
I feel that it's like any other company where it all depends on what team you are on and who is in your teams line of leadership.
Its a shit show
Did you used to work there?
I work here and it can be. It depends on what department/location you are in though.
Lol not at all
I’ve worked at JPMC and we are way more tech forward than them. My team has proper pipelines and delivers to production multiple times per day, doesn’t really have any operational burden, and works closely with product to deliver features every sprint without much red tape. Get paid slightly above average for the area and benefits/perks are good. We’re not a tech company and the general quality of engineers/code is below that bar, but above JPMC (my only other data point) by a HUGE margin. From what I’ve heard from people who went to other banks and my own experience, Capital One is the best big bank for software engineers
More so than other Banks. You think JPMC and Wells Fargo which have been around for 100+ years would be able to shift to using the cloud as well as improve their codebases as quickly as C1? We started operations in 1994.
They can and they did lol. Faster and better.
They can and they did what? They have barely begun using ANY public cloud in their multi-cloud strategy. They have a half-baked private cloud, but anybody who has used it knows it’s not the same as using a real cloud provider like AWS, GCP, Azure etc.
Not at all. Chase makes us look like the flintstones.
Not true at all.. Chase is super bad.
No
It shouldn't be compared to other banks anyway. For the sake of argument, let's assume COF is provably the closest of the banks - that still doesn't make it a tech company. I'm better at basketball than all the BAs in my ADP class. Can I compete with Lebron? Ha! (Disclaimer - actually terrible at basketball, but the analogy holds).
Absolutely not.
lol
This. I thought the post was a meme / joke from the title lol
