Is every Director+ level a sociopath?

That’s been my experience, 10+ YOE. Kinda makes sense, you delegate tasks without empathy and squeeze your reports to maximize output for the business. Of course they’re often charismatic enough to faux-care about everyone’s well-being and act as if they’re passionate about the product/team/company.

Is it possible to rise to that level without kissing a$$es? (Seriously wondering)

Amazon चिरोंजीलाल Feb 12, 2023

Yes, I have seen many in Amazon & other employer of mine, who ruthlessly deliver results and grow really fast. Some are not at all sociopaths and have genuine empathy. But they are able to attract and rally people around them to deliver results which speak for themselves

What if all you do is keep your head down and work hard without actively promoting it? Don’t you need some alliances to help you sell your work?

Can't agree more about the "act" part. They do any shit they want to, then disguise it in an employee friendly good work culture manner.
