Is google increasing the hiring bar again?

One of my friends whom i referred, is being called for an on-site interview. Does that mean google is starting onsite interviews again? Does that mean they will be very selectively hiring which mean raised hiring bar? I was planning on leaving google, with plans of coming back. Might get difficult to join back. Where are you going?

Google SugmaNoodL OP Nov 21, 2023

Not decided. Just wanted to leave google. The work is too slow.

Google HGmI86 Nov 21, 2023

Join my team. Work is too fast too toxic you’ll hate it here

Google entei Nov 21, 2023

No, the hiring bar is at a record low and is still dropping. The proof of this is that they’re hiring in India.

Microsoft Kxdht91 Nov 21, 2023

Interviews in US are much easier actually.

Google entei Nov 21, 2023

Wrong again, Rajesh.

Amazon FxBg62 Nov 21, 2023

No. With the hiring frenzy in the past they hired too many leetcode easy folks. Now these leetcode easy folks will be the interviewers and they will ask more leetcode easy in their rounds. So bar will be further lowered. To raise the bar, the company needs to instill the fear of pips, so only the daring, confident ones apply and get hired. Amazon on the way to get back it's prestige of the good old days.

Microsoft Kxdht91 Nov 21, 2023

LOL, Daring != high IQ. You don’t need pip culture to ask LC hards in interviews. Also, psychological safety was a key aspect of Google’s culture. It should absolutely not turn into a sweatshop like Amazon.

Google entei Nov 21, 2023

It’s already turned into Amazon because we hired too many smelly amazonians between 2022-present

Isn’t on-site in person interviews good? I feel it’s a good practice to get a feel of the team and the work environment. Also it’s easier to express more in offline interviews

Google SugmaNoodL OP Nov 21, 2023

I meant on site interview the candidate can't copy

Google jedi07 Nov 21, 2023

This is so stupid. The potential to cheat on an interview is how you decide between a high bar or low?

Amazon ueueiueueu Nov 21, 2023

My recent on-site were 2 hard

Google kKnq03 Nov 21, 2023

I mean with real on sites technically the hiring bar goes up because with online interviews cheating is very prevalent especially in India.

Google SugmaNoodL OP Nov 21, 2023

Yes thats what i meant. And some people think "is that how you decide the hiring bar whether candidate can copy or not"

Qualcomm team_Q Nov 22, 2023

I didn’t know people cheat during virtual on-sites as well, that’s pathetic!

I do see more scrutiny at HC and TM levels. Also the experience level is also inching up at L4/L5 levels.
