Is Apple innovation slowing for the past few years wrt iPhone? #hardware #interview #semiconductor
Really what more features could u want out of the phone at this point. Iād be running out of ideas too
It's stupidity to get an iPhone. Android has far greater hardware advancement. For the software side, just see the custom ROM ecosystem of Android.
What do you mean by android- Samsung , xiomi, huawei ?
I mean the entire ecosystem, which includes the companies you listed. The market is far bigger, the competition is fiercer (they cater to all market segments and not just the luxury rich users), resulting in more innovative approaches across market segments. Of course, the flagship is the highest segment. Custom ROMs are the equivalent of Linux distros, but Android. Lots of nice features and usages created by the open source ecosystem, which can hook a tech guy into exploring them for some time (like distro hopping).
To slow down you need to have some kind of velocity.
How unfortunate that people didnāt want Facebook buttons on the phone they bought.
It's not "people", it's your CEO. Anyway it looks like Meta is still doing ok. In fact, if the current trend continues my RSUs may be worth enough to afford one of Apple's VR headsets in a couple of years.
If itās not slowing down then engineers are not moving fast enough at the first place
Slowing down so much the online store crashes from all the preorders.
An online store crashing due to poor network traffic management isn't something to be proud of.

Why does it matter? Smart phone in general isnāt innovating much. I would still buy it though.
Innovation should be useful changes not gimmicks and this becomes increasingly hard for all mature products. Nobody wants to see a paperclip assistant added to Microsoft Office. The vast majority of smartphone buyers are not techies and don't care about tech specs, customizations, Geekbench, Wifi 7, or gimmicky new features. They care far more about the color, weight, battery life, and everyday QOL features. This applies to both iOS and Android markets as well as the computer market. Blazing fast Geekbench scores (ie high power, noise, and heat) make great headlines but at the end of the day people buy something cool and quiet with long battery life and looks decent. Even among the technical Blind community I'll bet more people own MacBooks than gaming laptops with "innovation."
I thought Clippy is coming back? https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2023/03/microsoft-365s-ai-powered-copilot-is-like-an-omniscient-version-of-clippy/ Actually, this is good for you. I agree no one liked poor Clippy.
