Whenever I tell people I want to go into IB, half the people just try to scare me off saying its not worth it. The money is good but there are other jobs that pay just as well. How do you all feel about banking? Is it worth grinding your 20s away?
Hire me and I will tell you
Depends entirely on your goals and values. Not a ton of people really want to do IB, most just see their time there as a means to an end.
Money's obviously important. I personally think that I can trade away a portion of my life for early retirement but my friends think I am not built for it
I’m sure you know you either need to move up the food chain or to the buy side to start making serious money. Not that IB analysts are struggling by any means, but it’s not like they’re bringing in 7 figures either. From what I’ve seen with friends, it is a rough life, hence why most move on once the opportunity arises.
Surprised more people don't consider Corporate Banking. Comp is relatively even in most Analyst programs. Yes the ceiling is lower as you get promoted, but the hours are typically more manageable.
No.
