Is it OK to increase my TC expectation after having an initial talk with the recruiter?

So I recently had a conversation with this recruiter in New York City who had emailed me a bunch of times before but I missed those emails and turns out that in one of his emails he had written that the compensation offered was $40,000 more than what I quoted him on the call !!! 😒 I have yet not sent him my resume for submission so I was wondering if I can tell him that I want to increase my TC expectations? I’m wondering if job applicants do that ? or will that seem unprofessional or cause him to not go forward with my submission?
