A couple months ago a recruiter from Google reached out to me to know if I was interested in a position. I wasn't interested at the time, so he told me to reach out when I was. I was considering making the move now, but with all the economic outlook for next year, I'm wondering if changing companies at this time would be wise: During layoffs, the newer employees tend to be the most at risk of being laid off. I don't even know if there is currently a hiring freeze at Google, but I wanted to get some opinions (preferably from people at Google) before even reaching out to the recruiter. TC: 350k
Stay where you are. And forward the recruiters e-mail id to me.
Lol
Google is shaking things up. Don’t leave right away. Stay for one year and apply again
I just started the Google interview process and curious wym by shaking things up?
It’s been on various outlets that the CEO wants to get rid of “coasters.” Expect cuts to happen.
OP, what decision did you make? In same boat
Oh, I'm in no rush to make a decision. I'm comfortable where I am, but it's time for a compensation bump of the size that only switching companies bring. But other opinions point to wait for a while
Why people ask same stereotypical questions? Nobody knows - stay where you are if you feel chicken. Or move if you believe in company and product
Nobody knows for sure, but people within the company can give you a feel of how things look in the inside. People in this thread are giving amazing feedback.
Can i get a servicenow ref
Google is hiring for some roles again
Even if you switch to any company now, what guarantee it won’t implement “last-in 1st-out” come next round of layoffs?
Then join now so next round you're not the last in lol
Lots of crappy things going on:"sharpening focus", new perf review with quota based bad ratings, overall amazonification, not transparent communications from the leadership. And a stingy compensation policy on top. I would not hurry.
Thank you for the input!
Can you tell us more about the stingy compensation policy?
Nooglers are now given very little time to ramp up before being marked in support check-in. If you are the type of person who needs a lot of time to ramp up, then don't move to Google now.
Thank you for the insight! I'm pretty confident I can ramp up as fast as needed. But I've seen companies laying off very talented people because of recession worries and they've been at the company for only a few months, and I wanted to get a feel if that is the case for Google.
Can i get a Google Ref
Google is about to flame out, like Meta Pressure is building on Sundar to do something
Hey, at least I would be able to get one of those adult Happy Meals
