If someone works for Bethesda, LinkedIn, GitHub or soon Blizzard, would it be acceptable for them to put Microsoft on their resume and LinkedIn profile instead of the actual subsidiary?
If they’re referred to as a subsidiary, I don’t see why not
Make poll. I think yes
Poll up
Hmm, I don’t like it. If someone from Twitch said they worked for Amazon they would be lying. They’re two different companies with different cultures and engineering practices.
Technically they work for Amazon, so is it really lying?
I don’t know, it just feels kind of gross. I guess I’d be curious to see what company is on their W2.
XYZ, a Microsoft company. Typically you’d want to match whatever is on your paycheck so that you won’t have issues with background check
If there’s a background check at a Microsoft subsidiary, which HR do they check with? Microsoft’s or the subsidiary’s?
Subsidiary. Wdym by background check at a Msft subsidiary? If you put XYZ, they’ll check with xyz HRs. If you put Microsoft, they’ll check with Microsoft HRs- in this case, the check would have a flag
Isn't LinkedIn already a better name than Microsoft? Dunno abt the others.
No, Fitbit engineers are not google engineers
I did the same, definitely got more recognition. No issues, just mention the actual company name in background check. Rest you're good.
Don’t they just go off your resume for the background check? How do you tell them?
Usually companies have you fill a background check form where you enter all your details
It is. Just point it out when people ask.
Could you give an example of how people would ask this?

Electric cars depreciate 10 times faster than gasoline cars
Why?
Moreso for Blizzard and Bethesda since Microsoft typically looks better on a resume. Blizzard employees probably want to distance themselves from the name (if the acquisition goes through)
