Is it real that people cry in office bathrooms

In a lot of TV episodes employees (usually women) go sobbing in office bathrooms due to workplace issues. Does this really happen in real life?

Yes one of the best sessions ever from Grace Hopper celebrating crying at work. https://youtu.be/CxJxaRcfD5o

Not untrue. Lot of the younger men are pretty insensitive. Even if you are a senior woman there are times it gets too much and feels like borderline bullying. It took me a while to be able to talk over people in meetings. A typical guy thing.

Wow really? How can younger guys coming in do better ? They have been competitive their entire life most likely

That’s a great societal question. We don’t, as parents, do a great job at teaching children how to behave kindly and respectfully, and a lot of people get a trial by fire in the workplace.

Its true - it happened to me when 20+ yr older than me got mad at me and spew disrespecting words publically. I didnt go to bathroom though just took a walk, So its not related to bathroom or women alone.

Are you a guy or lady?

I don't think I've ever done it. I do know an intern cried at her desk every day and left shortly into her term. I've heard of a dude at another company who broke down crying because the client was so nasty. Idk, sometimes you just gotta cry and isn't it better to do it in the bathroom than at your desk, in front of people or to leave for the day (which would really show your emotions rule everything)?

Take it in stride till the end of the day then go grab a drink with trusted friends or talk to your therapist

Yeah I don't think work is ever worth crying over. Or even drinking over. I try to leave my day behind me when it's over.

I don’t think that happened to me but I heard one of my female colleagues cried a lot, but I didn’t hear or saw it for the rest of female colleagues, they are pretty Warrior type

I've cried due to sleep deprivation and I cried to my career coach because of stuff going on at work but it's never been in public.

Roku cruella Sep 21, 2019

U have a career coach???

Amazon snetgersbe Sep 21, 2019

I decided to get one, yes.

Never gonna cry for shit happening at this company because I know if I got here I got the skills to jump somewhere else with better tc. When you work at the workplace you gotta have the mindset that other people ain’t shit and are just like you. And yes, I’m a female who doesn’t give af. 😇

I’m female in tech. That happened to me twice in my previous company. Not only me, it happened to my co worker as well. (I ran into her in the bathroom).

I'm sorry to hear that.
