I’m mid interviews with one of their teams and was really interested in joining a startup of that size. However given the recent news of Adobe acquiring the company, would I now just be potentially joining another large tech company? I’m not as concerned about the TC in this case (though it is a bummer) - just more skeptical about how the company will change and likely become more corporate due to the acquisition. Also congrats @Figma folks, hope y’all are celebrating accordingly 🍾
Sadly yes. But you can still try Ligma
No, should join Deez. Its IPO is going to be nuts
wHaT's LiGmA ?
Depends on whether it is adobe.employees.addAll(figma.employees) or just adobe.children.add(figma)
allegedly the latter but only time will tell
Adobe takes on all employees during an acquisition.
Yes
Given all the news so far, it sounds like Figma will maintain autonomy in brand and operations (a la LinkedIn/MSFT, YouTube/Google, etc.). Adobe knows how important Figma's brand value is and did not drop $20B to lose that. I would still consider interviewing since their culture is great and they still have many problems to solve ahead of them. I don't think the company has as much upside as before (easier to grow from $10B to $20B than $200B to $400B), but there's an argument here for Figma being Adobe's equivalent of FB acquiring IG. A lot of great synergies to supercharge Figma's product, and Figma has had their eye on expanding outside of just the design space for a while now (FigJam for starters).
Is YouTube still sort of autonomous from Google (at least as much as LinkedIn?)
It's not. Just the product is different from outside. From inside it's all Google.
You still get normal stock, just not double stock. And I personally doubt that the current FTC is going to let this merger happen.
isn’t this more of an acquisition though? Looking forward to hearing how this case will play out though. Since no other product in the same category from another company exceeds either of their market share individually
FTC doesn’t care about design tools 😝
You should apply to their sister company Ligma
Step sis is that u
Ligma nutz
I’m a designer and I see a lot of my colleagues upset about this. Aside from capitalism winning (which shouldn’t be a story that’s surprising to anyone) I don’t understand what’s to be pessimistic about. If anything this ensures Figma has the runway to scale and a validation of the longevity of a product we love. I don’t think there’s a world where they become adobe-fied All this to say JOIN. You’ll get to watch the company scale in big ways and YOULL be a player in that. plus you get that sweet sweet adobe stock, and adobe clearly isn’t going anywhere
What the hell does “capitalism winning” even mean here? It’s a software company lmfao what would you expect them to do?
I’m the choir and you are the preacher
Idk if Figma will go this route but so many cool companies get bought out by large companies and get turned into subsidiaries. You don’t get stocks of the larger company and don’t get stocks of the smaller company because it’s already bought out. It really sucks.
Adobe is super crusty. If you wanted a startup vibe and culture, go elsewhere.
Unless you want public equity, in which case go wild.

You get what you vote for
Yes. You won't get figma options, you'll get a delayed grant or Adobe stock. Not worth it.
Read the whole post next time so you answer the actual question. OP stated he doesn't care about TC.
