From the last few posts on Blind it's clear that nobody is safe at Amazon even if you're paid well. There was a post recently by a L7 guy with more than 10 years at Amazon who was put on pre PIP and after that his life was never the same. And another thing I observed was that so many Amazonian came out saying how they also have faced very similar situations gives me panic attacks when I think about applying there. Last year I interviewed there and just messed up the bar raiser round so was not selected. Else I would probably be working there or on PIP by now. No matter what you do there will always be a Damocles sword hanging over your head. So is it worth applying for Amazon? YOE: 6 TC: 123k
You should apply to get the name on your resume. A lot of Fang is about prestige and pay.
Dude, You have already rejected yourself prior to applying for the role. Having worked at Amazon for 2yrs now, I feel the pip stories are misleading.
What team?
I’ve had people leave because they developed health problems due to Amazons stressful culture. I’ve seen (a few) people thrive in the stress and get a lot of experience quick. My two cents: If this is not your first FAANG or larger scale company then odds are you will not enjoy the insane amount you will learn. But you will learn. If you already have an idea on how to build scalable systems, then you will prob thrive.
Feel like you’re trying to make yourself feel better about not applying.
As I mentioned before I already have interviewed there once and now out of cooling period.
I was thrown under the bus by my manager at Amazon. Was working on a dope project and consistently told how well I was doing. He scheduled a meeting for me to present to my L8 and I was legitimately excited because I was naive and thought it was good exposure. It was an ambush. I was criticized the entire meeting and nit picked to hell. My manager stayed silent the entire time. The next day I was on focus. A week later the project was defunded. I beat focus and dipped. Fuck that manager. Fuck that L8. Fuck Bezos. Fuck Amazon.
Hopefully you are out of it now.
This sounds like a horrible experience. I'm sorry you had to go through it.
At Amazon, you are not appreciated for 90% things that you do right, but are criticised for that 10%, PIPed and kicked out. It won't be long when half of the population will be PIPed by Amazon. It will be a social club .
Come to amazon as a wh0re. Get some money, deliver some goods, and walk away. No shame in that. Just don’t try to be a wife, Amazon is not worth it.
Good advice. I guess 4 years and move on?
Two years. Start on your exit plan afterwards. There are no refreshers. Promotion requires you to perform at the next level for free for at least six months. Why bother?
Amazon…. save yourselves and run-don’t-walk from the PIP factory.

FAANG experience is a good anchor on your resume. The PIP stuff probably sounds overblown especially to an outsider.
At Amazon for 6 months. 2 managers pip 4 coworkers pip 1 tpm pip Overblown for sure
One day, everyone will have Amazon experience on their resume.
