BREAKING: Internal sources confirm another round of layoffs just hit emails at Tesla. For real.
Joining as java backend dev at google soon. I am coming from a startup that uses "hot" tech (e.g. golang, kubernetes, docker etc). Folks who have joined google java teams from startups using "hot" technologies- did you find working at google boring? do you regret the move? anything i should be watching out for? Current TC: 85K, YOE: 3
Java backend dev here, definitely not. There is so much to learn and so many cool libraries to use that I haven't been bored yet!
4 YOE ?
Err, weren't both golang and kubernetes "hot techs" actually created AT Google?
Ya, but not everyone gets to work with them.
It will be very exciting. You will love google's tech infra sooo much
Java development is always boring.
True. There are so many decent languages even for jvm.
Actually, we have a slogan “do boring” . Exciting things are climbing on Kilimanjaro and Sky diving from 14,000 ft. Writing code must be boring to the point that it just works so that we can do the above.
Which are the teams at Google using mainly Java? Also, OP which team are you joining?
You are sooo “YOE3”, it’s cute
Haha
Haha, i guess so! Never worked in a big corp with traditional stack, so was curious if i will get bored.
