With ad based revenues taking a hit due to Apple’s privacy restrictions, is it a good idea to join Snap? TC - 250k+
idk maybe
It’ll look sexy on your resume at the very least
I thought snap was going downhill. Had no clue people still use it.
Snap has become a niche. It's still used, but not growing, or growing very slowly, sort of like Twitter, but the usage is more private than public.
Why don’t you go check our dau growth numbers in the last earning call. Its far from dying and growing faster than insta,fb, and twitter
Was about to interview, friend told me it's bad these days. Stopped interviewing.
It is always a good idea to join Snap. It attracts cream talent (but I am very much an avg dev who was lucky enough to get interviewers willing to take chance on me) and pays you good money to work with them. If you put Tiktok aside, it is the second fastest growing social media company amongst biggies and there is so much more room for the company to grow, DAUs and ARPU wise. The stock price might go down/remain stagnant for next 12-18 months until recession headwinds go away but will likely outperform broader tech market after that. Basically, don't bet against Snap not doing well in next 4-5 yrs. It is still somewhat chaotic here. Some teams have decent structure and documentation but others don't. Codebase looks as if it is being heavily raided by junior/inexperienced developers and thus a mess somewhat. Things have improved considerably with heavy design emphasis now a days similar to Google but still lot of room for improvement. Promo process can be hit or miss depending on your team/projects you work on.
Thanks for the detailed answer!
No, peloton is better
You might be joking. But I believe my question is serious as most ad based revenue companies took a hit lately. Not only Snap but also Meta and Google
How exactly does that affect your day to day life as an engineer?
