Seems like niche compared to backend dev. Does it have good market demand + future prospect?

After you get to a point in your career, you'll realize that the technology or platform doesn't matter. All that matters is if you're interested in doing whatever you're doing, and if you're getting a solid paycheck.
No react native seems to be petformant for most apps unfortunately. Job board posting confirm this as many listings want react or flutter
Many big companies probably have āsolvedā mobile to a great extent: a shell app plus server-side web pages. Look how the apps are. Some companies do have nontrivial native apps (Snap, for example), but most of the time the changes are in some common package applying to all platforms. As a mobile dev, youāll probably be thrown around solving problems for several teams. As someone said above, itās probably better to see mobile as a general computer with some specific features. Itās the same thing.
Mobile dev isnāt a career. Dev is a career. Mobile is really new, who knows it might go away and be replaced with something else. This is why you have graybeards to help the youngsters with decade long trends.
Wrong. At senior levels, past history in mobile is essential. You donāt hire a principal for mobile dev from principal of python. Also at manager level, a past history as mobile dev is required.
