Is my TC so low that I should change jobs?
I've been at my company for a year now, was hired on as a new grad for a .NET Developer role. I'm wondering what the market looks like for Software Devs with C#, SQL, and Salesforce exp looks like because I am concerned I'm being very underpaid. Exp: 1yr TC: $67,000 + quarterly profit sharing ($0-500)
I'm in Austin, TX and it is a smaller company (50-100 employees)
In austin you can make much more then 67k. Start looking. You should easily get 100k.
You should probably look around. I imagine there's companies paying >$100k base for people with similar experience, even well outside of fang
You have to look at what motivates you. If it's $$$$$ and you don't feel you're being compensated enough then maybe you should have a conversation with your employer or start looking for a new job. If overall happiness and company culture is what motivates you, then you need to ask yourself if your work environment, your happiness, and your job satisfaction is worth the money you're making now. It's a tough question because only you know what motivates you. Personally I don't care that much for money. I prefer surrounding myself with like minded people who are working towards the same common goal and where I have very low stress. Just my $.02
That is a great point - I am incredibly happy where I am and the day to day is full of responsibilies I enjoy. Good pay in trade for a workplace I dont enjoy going to wouldn't do well for me or my health.
I think you need to have a good conversation (be honest and transparent) with your employer and let them know what's on your mind. Bring supporting documents that shows industry avg. Comp stats from other similar roles and companies. Then explain how much you enjoy being there and that you are looking to stay and grow with them, you just want to have your comp aligned with the industry avg. and see where it goes from there. GL
How confident are you when you say that the job fits you really well, especially when you have 1 yoe? Did you have exposure to different work environments before?
Yeah it's a good time to switch. I came out of a coding bootcamp making 100k+ at a non-FANG in Austin. Not sure how common that is but they are out there. Amazon pays 150-170k for your experience level.
Austin is the new silicon valley. U should be making way more than that. Wat does TC and FANG mean?
TC = Total compensation, FANG = Facebook, Amazon, Netflix and Google

What’s your location? When you’re starting your career you should job hop every 1 or 2 years until you get your TC up to FANG levels.
