Looking around a bit. Nervous about system design because I never appeared for those. Any help is appreciated.
Whatever you do, don’t pay for that shit “grokking system design”. Waste of precious time/money 🤦🏻♂️
No
No, but it is quite good.
No way. It's an amazing book that you should read but it has no practical value in a 45 min systems design interview. I agree with the grokking comment above. It's trash. Good for a very junior level but that's it
What would you suggest instead then?
What is a good resource then?
https://github.com/donnemartin/system-design-primer/blob/master/README.md start here so you know the lingo. Study real world systems and map the concepts you learn onto them. Do practical exercises where you recreate a feature set using those concepts. Practice talking about tradeoffs, etc.
Search on YouTube about design Netflix, design Uber etc. Understand as much as possible. You would want to thank me later.
I disagree with some of the above commenters. DDIA is a great resource, but also an overwhelming amount of information. Assuming you know system design basics, if you read and really understand a couple select chapters of the book, the extra depth can make you shine in your interview
No, it's not. I also recommend http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1069827.Release_It_
Ty for sharing this gem!
