A headset of basically equivalent specs has been on the market for years. More open ecosystem and better compatibility with existing apps. Comparing the tech specs of the two, it basically looks like Apple went far out of their way to obfuscate the real performance specs so that you couldn’t make an apples to apples comparison between the Vision Pro and the XR-4
In all honesty, they don’t need the best specs to win. There are Androids that beat the iPhone on paper, equivalent price point laptops that beats MacBooks on specs, etc. There is a brand tax that everyone happily pays to be a part of the Apple ecosystem, despite there being superior options “on paper” - the same will happen here. Most people haven’t heard of Varjo. Pretty much everyone has heard of the Vision Pro
Could be. It just seems like Vision Pro specs were put out with very non-industry standard measurements to specifically make it difficult to cross compare. I guess that is just the marketers getting hold of them from the engineers before they go out the door.
It's not a "brand tax", it's a cooler brand than Android and people pay for the status symbol. Do you think a Hermes bag is better than a functional purse for $100?
Who ever makes it need to do a better job of marketing it then.
I’ve used XR-3, it’s nothing compared to VP. Pass-through is bad, eye tracking is not good, hand tracking only works in front of you. Also keep in mind it cost about 10k for headset only and you need a big ass PC which will cost you another fortune depending on the specs, then you will have two ugly, heavy and very expensive HDMI cables connecting headset with PC.
That’s some cope, gl though competition is good
Varjo ? Lol, no. Worse at almost everything. And 90% of the general population hasn’t heard of them.
Which headset?! I haven’t even heard of varjo lmao. How are people going to buy something that they don’t even know it exists.
If you haven’t heard of Varjo then you are not in the XR space. They are king of the high end.
No clipon lenses, only controller input, no avatars, cables everywhere… who uses this
