Difference of 200k
400k engineer wouldnāt post this question
I feel Iāve seen some awful designs suggested by high ranking engineers. Not always but a few.
200k difference is enough for down payment on a nice condo
We know what condos cost, thanks for your input
Or a high-end cardboard box and a sleeping bag in the bay area.
Negotiation skills
And how well did you negotiate Mr. āļø?
The only difference is the 200k engineer is not as good at interviewing
Now weāre getting real
Eh. The traits needed to grind out leetcode are the same traits I need to grind out boring log-tracing and debugging work. The difference between a 200k and a 400k is that I expect to be doing either interesting work or dead-simple work at 200k. At 400k I'm often doing grinding painful tasks that can't be done without 1) 99th %ile working memory and 2) top 0.1% dedication to pain and boring drudgery.
Better timing, luck, and probably negotiation skills.
Yes one gets to bang hotter models and can afford to buy everything two times over
TC or GTFO š
they are typically worth around double
Literal, I like it
Yeah. One that can read the damn documentation
