Is there any long-term benefit of living in California?
I recently got married and have been living in Bay Area for 3 years and rent is very high here add state tax and I have very little saving left. By god’s grace got picked in h1b and tax will be increasing more in October. Plan is to earn here for 6-10 years and shift back in home country. If I shift to Texas apart from losing in state tution for my wife any other thing I will be losing benefit wise ? Is it true after living for a year in Texas I’ll become eligible for in state tuition there? Blind tax : 110k ( no stocks ) Edit : I’m a remote worker and I believe my manager will support me shifting to any state (salary might change as per tiers) but will be reduced little only, so if you have any suggestions, please let me know. Goal is to save as much as I can sorry no cold and rainy state. Thank you.

Yes move to Texas. It is a no brainer at your salary. I started working in Bay Area 10 years back and 110k was my starting salary. Know your worth.
