It looks like a robbery to me. It’s clearly a rising promising social platform which potentially be next youtube or instagram. and have proven its monetization ability in douyin. Ban or sell doesnt look like free market.
So china can block anything but not other countries?
It’s only bc Chinese don’t allow free market rules, they block and copy within the firewall then compete outside the firewall as well. Why should US play one sided, it’s a lose lose for US to allow them to play here while China doesn’t vice versa. At least trump is giving an option to continue via acquisitions while China hasn’t presented such an option.
China provide more options than acquisition. This is why Amazon, AWS, Microsoft and Apple can operate in China.
Wtf? Amazon withdrew their services from China last year. They currently just use China to make the cheap Amazon Basics product lines - which actually are generally design thefts of other companies.
Where is your “strong evidence”?
“They are going as far as stitch videos together to build floor plans of buildings in geofenced zones”. I like this conspiracy theory! As if they won’t be able to do it from YouTube/Instagram. They can allow one computer in the govt office to go over their firewalls for that very one purpose.
From this incident, we can see that free market and democracy no longer exist in US. China would mock hard if US ever accuses China for democracy again in future. After this, I support CCP even more. At least CCP is leading China to prosperity rather than starting wars with other countries.
It's only one occurrence of how the US tries to outreach and confiscate assets located overseas.
and this is a start
FATCA is another example. The confiscatory US estate tax for non resident aliens is another example. The tax treatment of PFICs is another example. I could go on for decades on how the US structured its laws and tax code to prevent non US companies or individuals (including there citizens) to invest overseas.
Chinese argument of “following law” is hilarious. The ccp defines the law. When you say American companies are welcome in China as long as they follow the law, that’s just saying “as long as they kowtow to ccp”. Trump making an EO is exactly the same thing.
Of course. It’s China. It’s Chinese government. China should let foreign countries make laws for China?
Of course not. No one is arguing that. The argument is should the US allow Chinese companies access the lucratic US market when China doesnt do the same. China is free to do whatever it wants within its borders. But its silly to think that it can play by rules that benefit it domestically while also insist on foreign rules which benefit it internationally. Pick one.

It is robbery. Both ccp & trump are no good, lol. I have to say though, it’s unfair for a private company like tiktok to take all this as obviously they have no control over their government. Trump’s executive orders are jokes. Pro trump just because he targeted China? lol I won’t buy this.
Lol. Tiktok is free to leave. The us isnt stealing anything and in fact is willing to buy it. Lmao robbery. How ridiculous.
lol Amazon, very funny argument. tiktok is free to leave, but if it wants to get into the country, it has to sell itself & trump admin would take a share out of it. So it’s free after all, lmfao.
If Facebook and Google can't operate in China why should US allow TikTok to operate?
Follow Chinese law. Facebook and google can operate.
Google tried that and China made them do far more than any Chinese company. Personally, I like the idea of blocking all Chinese owned companies from operating in the US. While we’re at it, let’s go ahead and pass some laws to prevent them from buying up properties in high COL areas and leaving them empty 90% of the year.
