Forget the politics and everything else behind it. Are the different ratings simply based on which percentile you are in compared to your peers adjusted for your potential? If I have 100 L6 in my org, and I’m in the top 5 of the ranking, I’m TT — or is it more complicated than that? And is this stack ranking at skip, org, or VP level? TC: $280K
Can you elaborate on the abbreviations?
TT == Top Tier L6 == senior position VP == Vice President (large org in AWS)
What is TT and HV1? Thanks
TT == Top Tier (highest rating) HV1 == Highly valued 1 (second to lowest rating)

Tldr: yes, Your overall rating is literally the assigned the value of a cell in a matrix, one dimension of which is your performance (stack rank) and the other dimension is potential. The reason performance corresponds to stack ranking is because performance is measured w.r.t the current bar at that level, which by definition is the average performance of all employees at a level. >> If I have 100 L6 in my org, and I'm in the top 5 of the ranking, I'm TT That is correct, but the complication comes in deciding whether or not you're in the top 5. It's a hard question to answer, especially when people are working on different kinds of projects and have different contributions. So if there's a top 10 pool who perform almost equally, it'll be down to politics as to who is included in the top 5 - simply because there's a quota of how many max TTs you can have. >> Is this stack ranking at skip, org, or VP level? It's at every level. Your manager will stack rank amongst your team, your skip will sit down with all managers reporting to them and stack rank in their sub-org, and so on till it rolls up as just numbers to the top.
Nice thank you.
How does the management chain stack rank against each other?
Who does this kind of stack ranking shit? Are robots working here?
Nearly everyone does, Amazon is just the most publicized. Even Microsoft does it in a way
TT is where an org puts its top 20% or so give or take. HV3 10% it’s basically overflow for TT for those who don’t have quite enough org pull yet. Then 60% get HV1 or HV2 and the bottom 10% get LE. An org needs to “fit the curve”. So if there’s 100 L6 the top 20 ish will get TT and so on
Nice thanks
