Nvidia is the only goat company for SWE after apple did layoffs. #engineering #software https://www.reddit.com/r/technews/s/YlOADrlWFW
Congratulations and see you here soon!
My application just got declined. But honestly as someone who lost 80% of vest first year i joined, makes me nervous to join companies who are on a tear
Ouch ! 80% is bad. Sorry. Where did you join to see that decline ?
Why would you join nvidia after 10x raise in a year. I honestly don’t understand your rationale. The likelihood of being underwater for about two years before being net positive is very high and psychologically draining
I'm joining very soon. Agree it's not a great time to join, but I'm not desperate for cash so if it dips for a while i won't die. Still excited for a good engineering culture. It's a long term play. Also, if stock dips, they have a nice ESPP to leverage that.
You’ll more likely be treated well in Nvidia, that’s the reason to join.
Leadership is great. Probably do more for employees than most. But company hasn’t changed. It’s far from the most competitive in terms of salary still.
Yes we are far most competitive in terms of offers especially in SWE. We are happy because of our stocks.
Miss saying the same about VMware.
Without stock appreciation, the TC is also higher than most companies in the US. Instead of getting 100k-200k TC in many other places, I can get nearly 400k (without any stock appreciation) so yeah.
At what level?
IC4 should be pretty close, especially after 2 refreshers.
Means we don't hire and overwork instead
Grass is always green on other side. here in PIP so it's silent layoff is already started
Sounds like your performance not up to snuff for Jensen
Actually my mgr is targeting me to allocate and give raise to other teammates
ServiceNow did not layoff too. Not a single employee.
They're trying to force attrition via RTO and pipping depending
Kuch bhi kar lo Bunny RTO to har jagah hoga.
And you a sheep
Erstwhile VMware/Broadcom hasn't laid off anyone for past 3+ years until they had to due to the acquisition. Even during pandemic when everyone said we have to cut costs and there's no other way, VMware helped people move to parts of the world where they are most comfortable working from, invested in their mental and physical health, enabled remote working and indefinite leaves when it was unheard of in the industry. . They never laid off anyone. Too bad that we were acquired but I wish I could be with this amazing company forever.
But now they are Broadcom all bets off
Broadcom is trash, how do you even compare it with Nvidia lol
Nothing is goat. It's just another company. Only thing is Jensen cares about employees and is honest.
That's what matters and their ML engineering has been amazing since day 1
I mean yeah they won't right now but there's no saying they won't in the future. Every spree ends at some point. 5 years ago it was all about block chain. It's all about AI today. It's going to be something else in 5 years. Will Nvidia remain relevant always?
