Current TC: 0k Fb offer TC: 532k But it requires a move from WA to CA. I’m too old for that shit. I’d rather find a lower paying job here and not have to move. I just bought a house here.

Correct. I walked away from a toxic and shitty situation at MSFT. Worst professional experience of my career, even after changing orgs/teams! I'm glad so many people report a positive experience there but I HATED it and will never ever in a million years ever consider going back there.

Once you save up enough net worth / f u money, corporations don’t have as much power over you. And if you’re confident in your entrepreneurial skills, they have even less ability to force you to do things like uproot your entire life and family. That being said, 532k is a lot and LA is fun.

Don't do it unless you really need a job and can't find anything here. I turned down a FB offer a while back after I failed to negotiate a location other than MP.
I have not exhausted Seattle options by a long shot. Fb was my first interview actually. I did get an amzn offer also. Probably going to do that. It’s hard to find fb comp here.
I was head hunted for a specific pre allocated role in CA. Not sure what the process is like if I back out on CA now but feels like I risk the offer? Any guidance here would be appreciated.

I've been considering this - but I was recruited for and offered two very specific (pre-allocated roles). I asked if I decline the pre-allocated, would it be possible to find a role in Seattle? They said maybe but they'd have to take a step back and I'd probably have to have another meeting/onsite? This is for EM btw. What are the chances they rescind completely if I ask for this?
