Been considering Leave for the longest time, and with the current news of layoffs, just gonna go for it as I’ve been super stressed with work and family stuff. OLR is soon and I know that my Manager is gonna make the inevitable happen, he’s been showing the signs. Gonna spend the time looking for new jobs, waiting for hiring freezes to end, and possibly transfer to a different team. Anyone do it before? Any advice on how to find a Therapist with Blue Cross? If so, how much does it end up costing roughly? TC:180k #amazon #aws
I’ve considered the same for many months. Please keep us posted.
TC and YOE? Any chance to switch teams first?
Takes too long and mentally through. I’d rather interview during leave for internal transfer.
would it impact your pay? If so, how!
100% do it
How does it work? Most places I know make you cover medical leave with PTO and then it’s unpaid.
Amazon offers short term disability insurance as an employee benefit, which provides 60% of base for up to 26 weeks. OP would be taking leave for a qualifying reason (mental health disability). Also, in some states, there is a paid FML option (such as WA).
Late comment, but if you can time it right buy up your disability to 80% before pulling the trigger so you get more money during your leave.
How so?
Some companies let you buy up short term disability during open enrollment from the default of 60%, usually up to 80% of pay.
Go for it. It was the best thing I did for my own mental health
