What’s something that you sink too much money into monthly and would not want to confess? I’ll start, at least 500$+ on beverages alone, booze/bbt/etc, that’s almost 20$ a day :( #personalfinance
Fancy restaurants
Equinox or blow or … kratom
are you actually doing Kratom? I have so many reasons why you should stop. For one your brain is neuroadaptive and will always require more and more. It is an opioid agonist, even if not a true opiate. So you are actually killing brain cells. Check reddit.com/r/quittingkratom
It actually doesn’t require more and more. It is, addictive a f But it’s not a steepening usage like other opiates. There’s some weird tolerance mechanism I’ve been doing <= 7 gpd for 5 years
I eat out every single day. The only question is will I eat out once a day or twice that day. My wife is more frugal and is not quite a fan of my eating out habits. But still she will eat out 3-4 times a week. I can’t feel bad though because our net worth is $1.4MM. It’s been my dream ever since I was a kid to have enough money to eat out as much as I want.
Hope you are picking good healthy places to eat. I have the money to eat out as much as i want but still cook for health reasons.
That’s a good point. I’ve ate unhealthy all my life. I’ve been trying to eat a bit healthier lately but it’s gonna be a transition. One big change I’ve made is cutting out all processed sugar. I started that a month ago and am trying to go three months without it. From there I will have a sugar day once every three months (if I still even crave it). Hoping to impress my doctor with how low my blood sugar has gotten. So far I can see it working. When I eat fruit they taste a lot sweeter than before. And I’ve gone from weighing 180 to 165.

I don't feel bad about spending $15-20 for dinner and not having to cook. But desserts and beverages are insanely marked up. Like beers are basically $2 a bottle at the liquor store but $8 to get at a restaurant. Or bubble tea can be like $10 which is the price of probably 1 month supply of ice cream
We stopped getting drinks with dinner. Decided that it's better to just focus on the food. Reduced cost by 20%

Does MS pay that much?
Probably not for SWE, but I was a trader so yes. Took a significant paycut coming to tech.
