Congrats to all the Clouderans! The Hadoop ecosystem really helped delivering the scale of data analytics we have today. Despite its ubiquitous adoption in large companies like Facebook, LinkedIn, Uber, how come the company itself is bleeding red? Same could be said with Hortonworks. Is that a testament to the company operation or the future of the technology itself? Also, how do people view Hadoop in general here?
A different question would be, could we live without Hadoop? Any promising Big Data contenders? (Ok Spark, Ceph, but are they ready)
Most people joining after intel round made nothing significant from the IPO ... they were all sold RSUs at 30 a piece .. yet all the idiots came to SF office at 5:30am to celebrate the bell ringing ... i didnt bother to come .. This company seriously effed its employees.. watch out for the exodus !
Because companies like Cloudera provide services, not products. Margins on services are low.
Hontonwork too
But without a corporate backer, what would push the future of the open source project to more innovation? I suppose innovation could come from individual companies, but that would lead to fragmentation
