Booz Allen Hamilton Potential Offer

Hi everyone, I have a feeling that I may receive an offer from Booz Allen Hamilton and I have some questions. Before that, here’s a breakdown of my situation: Current Company: NASA, not a contractor. I’m leaving due to stagnancy and extremely toxic pompous and arrogant culture. TC: – $112k base in Houston with no real bonus. Yes, I know this is good for the area and Civil Service. YOE- 11.5 (5 with DOD and 6.5 with NASA) Current role: Contracting Officer/Manager with unlimited warrant. Field: Supply chain management/ Government contract life-cycle management I just finished my 3rd round interview and I should know something this week. I also informed HR in the beginning of this process that my minimum is $125K, which I plan on negotiating higher if I receive an offer. The position is a Senior Acquisition/Contracts Specialist Consultant role in San Diego. I believe they will bring me in at an Associate level. Also please keep in mind that I understand that this is basically Government Contracting/procurement so I know what I’m getting myself into. I also believe I will still be marketable as I’ve had unsuccessful interviews with: Facebook -Had an onsite with 5 rounds where one person asked me how I’d build a ship. I know I did well, but it wasn’t meant to be. I think I was also there to meet a diversity quota since diversity is basically nonexistent. Amazon – 2 interviews for separate positions plus a ghost on a 3rd.Thank God that didn’t fall through Apple- Wasn’t what they were looking for as I didn’t meet their immediate needs. Google bet (Fiber) - Wasn’t what they were looking for as I didn’t meet their immediate needs. Twitter – Pretty sure I only moved forward to meet a quota. Hiring Manager was looking for someone with a CPA and they knew I didn’t have that Flexport – 2 interviews for 2 different roles. This was for practice. Deloitte (Atlanta, GA)- Just got pinged by them to finish my EEO/Affirmative action information in order to be considered further. I'm taking this with a grain of salt Soooooo. With all that being stated: 1. Can an Associate in a high cost of living area make at least $125k? 2. Does BAH negotiate salary? 3. Any insight on the San Diego office culture? I have a good vibe thus far and read some positive reviews, but more information is always good in my opinion.

Check out Indeed and Glassdoor for salary range for the same role. Also $125K doesn't seem to be high but again you need to check the salary range; you actually might be able to negotiate higher. Good luck!

1) Yes 2) You can definitely negotiate higher with your YOE. 3) Never been to that office but I am from San Diego, great city. Generally, pretty positive vibes through most of Booz. Some bad apples here and there but that’s any company.

1) yep 2) Definietly. Them counter offering is the worst that can happen if you ask for higher. 3) I'd imagine all the projects there are for the naval base or navy related.

125 is very much doable for SD Assosciate. As long as you know what you're getting into, you should have great work life balance in an awesome city. Much more than 125 is technically feasible but they generally would prefer to put that in a Lead Assosciate.

Definitely push on the salary. I’ve been with them for almost 7 years and once you’re in, they aren’t with salary increases. Work life balance is a little questionable. My current role has me working 11+ hours 3-4 days a week despite asking for support. My current situation has me considering leaving. Overall you can do really well, buts it’s largely dependent on your management chain.

Have to agree with Wfpc35, once you get in you're usually looking at modeat annual raises. Negotiating for a higher salary upfront is important, otherwise you are negotiating against your own interest. Best of luck.

Upfront on salary is important, but San Diego is incredible here! Culture is generally pretty healthy.

I was at BAH for over 6 years. Culture is overall good with leaders doing the right thing. Toxic managers can be found here and there. Salary is lower, but benefits and WLB are phenomenal.

1. Yes, I think that’s doable. The firms been adjusting too due all the competition 2. Yes 2. It’s a pretty laid back culture. Lots of Navy and Marine Corps work. We’ve been expanding since many contracts are remote now or in a hybrid type model.
